about
As you can probably tell from the lyric, 'seven weeks in the late spring sun', I first wrote this song early May. After much tinkering, and many many drafts, the version I'm uploading today is recorded version 3!
I had jotted down a series of observations about our road in my book/phone, and the full song idea grew from there. Every verse depicts a real character who lives within about 30m of us. I think of this song not only as a product of lock down but also as a portrait of our road. I love our area, and I love Hastings/St Leonards. Something this period has really emphasised for me is, despite living in such close proximity to one another, how vastly different all our lives, realities and experiences are.
Released in 2001, “The Convincer” is a gentle gem in the Nick Lowe catalog; an anniversary edition provides opportunity for rediscovery. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 20, 2021
Recorded on the Grecian isle of Hydra, this is blissed-out psych pop with stacked falsetto harmonies and luscious arrangements. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 9, 2023
Two dozen 12-string acoustic improvisations that feel undeniably haunting, like lost transmissions from ancient Appalachia, rediscovered. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 17, 2022
Beautiful and mysterious folk-adjacent songs from this UK outfit that wreathe delicate acoustic guitar in mist-like synths. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 10, 2021
